“What can you really say after seeing all of those benchmarks and tests? Without a doubt the new Western Digital VelociRaptor 300GB drive is the fastest hard drive we have ever tested. The upgrade of the Raptor line to the SATA 3.0 GB/s specification was well overdue and you can clearly see that at least part of the performance boost was due to that change. With burst speeds of 247 MB/s and sustained transfers over 110 MB/s the VelociRaptor is the best enthusiast hard drive you’ll find for any application we can think of – games, boot times, video encoding, etc.”Here are some more Storage reviews from around the web:

Bursting with flavour

Who knew VelociRaptors would be so well received, after all that bad press they got from Spielburg? Western Digital’s new take on the Raptor series is a 2.5″ drive in a 3.5″ container, most of which is heatsink. The burst speed on this drive isn’t quite double that of the RaptorX, but it is close enough; HD Tach 3.0.4.0 puts it at 247.8MB/s compared to 132.7, and the Random Access Time has dropped by 1.2ms at the same time.
