Call of Duty 4

Call of Duty 4 (DirectX 9)

Call of Duty 4 is the next iteration of the very popular CoD series and is a return of the Infinity Ward team that made CoD1 and CoD2 so successful.  The graphics for this title are simply amazing, and considering that it is still a DX9 graphics engine, developers of these DX10 titles we use should be shamed!  If you want a great single and multi-player experience set in a modern warfare environment, don’t pass up Call of Duty 4.

At 1600×1200 the 1GB and 512MB versions of the HD 3870 card are running neck and neck though at 2048×1536 there is a slight performance gain seen in the 1GB version.  At 2560×1600 the scores are much lower than what we see from the HD 3870 X2 or the BFG 9800 GTX card, but the drop off we saw from 2048×1536 is actually lower than we expected indicating that the 1GB of frame buffer is at the very least helping – just not enough.
