3DMark06
The Futuremark 3DMark06 benchmark was released many moons ago and has become a popular test for GPU benchmarks and CPUs as well.  You can see my full overview of the new benchmark, what it has to offer over the 2005 version and some other initial scores from my previous article

**Note that 3DMark Vantage software is out, but we didn’t have it when testing was done on these cards.  Expect more 3DMark Vantage results very soon!

In our 3DMark06 synthetic tests you can see that the HD 3850 X2 card really does have nearly as much theoretical power as the HD 3870 X2 card does – this of course makes sense with the overlap in technology between the two products.  The BFG 9800 GTX has trouble keeping up with the vertex shading and SM 3.0 tests when compared to the HD 3850 X2 but as we saw in our benchmarks the two rivals are pretty evenly matched.
