3DMark06 – Dual GPU
The Futuremark 3DMark06 benchmark was released many moons ago and has become a popular test for GPU benchmarks and CPUs as well. You can see my full overview of the new benchmark, what it has to offer over the 2005 version and some other initial scores from my previous article.**Note that 3DMark Vantage software is out, but we didn’t have it when testing was done on these cards. Expect more 3DMark Vantage results very soon!
Again, we see that 3DMark06 can show us some interesting points about our configurations if we evaluate the synthetic results. For instance, fill rates on the SLI configuration scale exceptionally well and give it an advantage over both other solutions. However, fill rate is no longer the only (or primary some would argue) specification to determine overall performance. You can also see that the more complete pixel and vertex shaders also saw performance increases that are the other indicator of how powerful (and price conscious) a pair of these GPUs can be.
