Call of Duty 4 – Dual GPU

Call of Duty 4 (DirectX 9)

Call of Duty 4 is the next iteration of the very popular CoD series and is a return of the Infinity Ward team that made CoD1 and CoD2 so successful.  The graphics for this title are simply amazing, and considering that it is still a DX9 graphics engine, developers of these DX10 titles we use should be shamed!  If you want a great single and multi-player experience set in a modern warfare environment, don’t pass up Call of Duty 4.

The 9600 GT scales VERY well in Call of Duty 4 and we saw a 56% increase in frame rate at 2560×1600 that easily took a game that was unplayable (or barely) at those IQ settings and made it very enjoyable to sit down in front of.  Even better is the fact that we saw those same increases at the 1600×1200 resolution meaning that you don’t have to have a $1300 monitor to take advantage of SLI in this case.

The doubled up 9600 GTs also made a point to show up the 9800 GTX and 3850 X2 1GB cards while they were at it, beating them handily in all three resolutions.
