Call of Duty 4
Call of Duty 4 (DirectX 9)
Call
of Duty 4 is the next iteration of the very popular CoD series and is a
return of the Infinity Ward team that made CoD1 and CoD2 so
successful. The graphics for this title are simply amazing, and
considering that it is still a DX9 graphics engine, developers of these
DX10 titles we use should be shamed! If you want a great single and
multi-player experience set in a modern warfare environment, don’t pass
up Call of Duty 4.

Call of Duty 4 settings

Here at least we see SOME separation for the GTX 280 card at 2048×1536 and 2560×1600 when compared to the GX2 card. The average frame rate doesn’t change much but the minimum is significantly faster – a big plus for a fast paced shooter like COD4. The 9800 GTX gets spanked a gain, getting beat by 66% or so and the HD 3870 X2 doesn’t fare much better.

The GTX 260 does a much better job of competing in Call of Duty 4 and can nearly catch up with the 9800 GX2.

Again we really only see any scaling at 2560×1600, but it is decent at that level with a 44% scale in average frame rate.
