A Detailed Look
The Corsair HX1000W power supply features a scratch-resistant black matte finish with blue logo plates on both sides. The steel enclosure measures a full 200mm (7.9”) long and uses a single 140mm fan on the bottom side for cooling.
The backside panel features an open grill area and includes a power receptacle and master On-Off switch. The honey comb grill on the back and several small slots on the front allow air to exhaust out of the power supply for cooling all the internal components.

The fan speed is automatically controlled by the internal component temperature (speeds up as the combined load and temperature increases) via an onboard controller. The 140mm, 7 blade fan (D14BH12-LSSS) is manufactured by Yate Loon Electronics and incorporates dual ball bearings. This particular fan is rated for 2,800 rpm, 48.5 dBA, and .70A when operating on 12 VDC.

The HX1000W PSU comes with ten, color-coded modular connectors on the front side. The four blue 8-pin connectors support the modular PCI-E cables/connectors and the optional second 8-pin EPS12V cable/connector for motherboards with dual processors. The six black connectors power the peripheral device modular cables.
