System Performance Results
Our tests of this system will be quick and to the point – after all we have tested the hardware IN the system so many times before I could probably predict the benchmark results with a lot of accuracy. But let’s see what the Area-51 has to offer us.
The Alienware Area-51 puts out some fantastic SiSoft Sandra scores in our testing and is only falling behind our reference QX9770 results by a smaller margin. That difference is likely because of the timing differences between the Alienware system and our original QX9770 system.
Again the Alienware Area-51 system has a good showing in our CPU-based benchmark with CineBench 10.
Call of Duty 4 (DirectX 9)
Call
of Duty 4 is the next iteration of the very popular CoD series and is a
return of the Infinity Ward team that made CoD1 and CoD2 so
successful. The graphics for this title are simply amazing, and
considering that it is still a DX9 graphics engine, developers of these
DX10 titles we use should be shamed! If you want a great single and
multi-player experience set in a modern warfare environment, don’t pass
up Call of Duty 4.
Call of Duty 4 settings
The pair of HD 3870 X2 cards is proving to be a very powerful gaming configuration even though it has been succeeded already by the AMD Radeon HD 4870 X2. Being able to run Call of Duty 4 at 2560×1600 with an average frame rate of 75 FPS is still a very impressive!
