A Detailed Look
The SilverStone OP1000-E 1,000W power supply features a black matte finish with the SilverStone name and logo embossed into the top cover.  The steel enclosure measures only 150mm (5.8”) deep, which is very compact for a 1,000W PSU and should fit into most all ATX enclosures without a problem.  It uses a single 120mm fan on the bottom side for cooling.

The back panel features an open grill area and includes a power receptacle and master On-Off switch.  The honey comb grill on the back and a small slotted opening on the front allow air to exhaust out of the power supply for cooling all the internal components.

The fan speed is automatically controlled by the internal component temperature (speeds up as the combined load and temperature increases) via an onboard controller.  The 120mm, 7 blade fan (MGA12012HF-025) is manufactured by Protechnic Electric.  This particular fan is rated for up to 1,600 rpm, 38.3 dBA, and .45A when operating on 12 VDC.
