The 3DMark Vantage scores actually do a good job mimicking the results we saw in our real-world testing – the new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 graphics card is just flat out faster than the Radeon HD 4870 X2 – the range is between 22% and 28% faster in the primary GPU scores at Performance, High and Extreme presets.  The synthetic tests show that while the HD 4870 X2 might have an advantage in theoretical texture fill rates and color fill rates, the processing power of the 480 shaders in NVIDIA’s GTX 295 are overwhelming the 1600 shaders in the 4870 X2 – results that are backed up by our game tests on the previous pages.
