A Detailed Look
The UCP 900W power supply features a dark gray speckled finish that gives this PSU a heavy duty, industrial look and feel. The enclosure is 190mm (7.5”) deep and uses a single 120mm fan on the bottom for cooling. The indicator light below the main power switch lights up if an OVP/OCP/OPP/SCP/UVP or OTP fault is detected.
The fan speed is automatically controlled by the internal component temperature (speeds up as the combined load and temperature increases). The SUPERRED fan (Cheng Home Electronic Co., Ltd., CHB12012BS-E) is rated for up to 2,000 rpm at 12V and incorporates ball bearings.
The UCP 900W power supply has a large assortment of cables and connectors, which are all hard-wired into the main chassis. The cables are covered with black, braided plastic mesh sleeving all the way to the end connectors and measure approximately 24” to 30” long.
Main power connector (24-pin/20-pin)
(2) ATX 12V/EPS 12V (4/8-pin)
(4) PCI Express (6-pin)
(2) PCI Express (8-pin)
(5) Peripheral Optical/HDD (4-pin)
(9) Peripheral Serial ATA (15-pin)
(1) Peripheral FDD (with adapter)
It’s important for a high output PSU to have plenty of cables and connectors to distribute all that power to the components that need it. The UCP 900W can support multiple high-end video cards with either two 6-pin or one 6-pin and one 8-pin PCI-E connector per card. Notice that two of the four PCI-E cables are fitted with both a 6-pin and an 8-pin connector; take your pick.
