Though the results here are again mixed, it would seem apparent that the AMD FirePro driver has more difficulty taking advantage of extra CPU horsepower than the NVIDIA Quadro software. A look at the 3dsmax-04 result clearly shows performance on both the FX 4800 and FX 4700 cards scaling well into the 4 thread territory while the AMD FirePro v8700 and v5700 only increase from 1 to 2 threads, not 2 to 4 threads. The only test that saw negative scaling on both sets of GPUs was the Maya benchmark where performance fell as much as 35% or so as thread count increased.
