Before heading off into the forums, give your self a bit of piece of mind and see if you managed to be one of the few who caught Conficker.  The test is very easy to interpret. To keep up with all the other threats that are out there, this thread in the Networking Forum is your friend.  Of course, you need to build a PC before you worry about getting infected; but please, just don’t use KY Jelly as a heat transfer material.

Another big hurdle to face is the video card, even if you can pick a favourite it won’t last long because of all the new cards coming out.  It isn’t over after you purchase it, there are official driver updates as well as seductive beta drivers to try out.
