Installation
We installed the Zalman CNPS9900 LED in our Intel i7 test system. We use an i7-920 for testing, and this should be a good indicator if this heatsink can handle the rigors of today’s high-end, quad-core processors.
The first item to install is the bracket to mount the heatsink. Simple enough.
Next, we just four screws to secure the top mounting bracket in place.
After that, I applied the included thermal paste onto the CPU. I never used thermal paste that you brushed on before, but it seemed to work just fine.
Next, I added the mounting clip to the heatsink and placed both items over the CPU to ensure it is properly aligned.
Lastly, I screwed in the mounting clip, which secured the heatsink over the CPU.
Here’s a quick shot of the heatsink installed and glowing nicely. The entire install took around 10 minutes and we didn’t run into a single hitch during installation.
