Computex 2009: ASUS Eee, motherboards, graphics cards and more! - General Tech 25

Another item we saw for the first time at CES was the lineup of ASUS Eee Top PC systems.  They will have a 20-in and a 22-in version available, with the 20-in model sporting an Intel Atom 330 CPU with the NVIDIA ION chipset and a 250GB hard drive.  They will of course include 802.11n wireless support and an optical drive with 2GB of memory and integrated speakers.

I am a little disappointed with the CPU selection perhaps, but the 22-in model kind of makes up for it with an Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 processor, PM45 chipset and ATI Radeon HD 4570 graphics.  Even with 4GB of memory, a 320GB hard drive, Blu-ray drive and more ASUS claims it will sell for under $1000.  Get in line to get yours in Q3 this year.

ASUS also had a pair of intriguing displays…on display.  This one is the new MS226H that weighs in at a 21.5-in screen size and a resolution of 1920×1080 with support for HDMI and VGA inputs.

The most impressive part about this unit is its looks: it is incredibly thin and the sexiness just oozes off of it.  ASUS says it should be available before the winter holidays.

A bit more surprising to see was a 120 Hz panel from ASUS; this will enable support for NVIDIA’s 3D Vision gaming accessory or, alternatively, a better overall gaming experience with support for 120 frame per second.  This monitor is unique in that it is the first 24-in panel we have seen with 120 Hz support; the previous models were all 22-in in size.  Along with the size increase is a resolution bump to 1920×1080.  Expect to find this monitor available in “late 2009.”
