Blender is a free open source 3D engine that is a popular choice amongst college students and small developers.

The Blender test continues to show a penchant for the Core 2 architecture as evident by the QX9770 4-thread speed outgunning the Core i7-975s performance on the same thread count.  Obviously the move to an 8-thread test pushes the Core i7’s along and even the i7-920 outcompetes the QX9770 then.
