Under the Hood
Here are a few pictures showing the layout and components inside Thermaltake’s new Toughpower XT Series 850W power supply. The overall layout, build quality and component selection looks good.
Thermaltake is once again using CWT (Channel Well Technology) as their OEM for the XT 850W PSU. This is a mature platform that typically exhibits strengths and weaknesses.
On the primary side we find a single high-quality Japanese made electrolytic capacitor rated at 470uF, 400V and 85°C.
The secondary side is populated with Nippon Chemi-Con capacitors buried underneath a lot of distribution wiring.
