Under the Hood
Here are a few pictures showing the layout and components inside Enermax’s new Galaxy EVO 1,250W power supply. The overall layout, build quality and component selection looks excellent.
Enermax is one of the very few manufacturers that actually design and build their own power supplies and the Galaxy EVO 1,250W is no exception. The EVO 1,250W PSU appears to be virtually identical to the Revolution85+ 1,050W PSU, inside and out. Enermax says they tweaked the design to allow for UL certification and sacrificed a little efficiency in the process.

On the primary side we find three high-quality Matsushita electrolytic capacitors rated at 220uF, 400V and 85°C each. Dual transformers are also employed to handle the 1,250W output.

The secondary side is populated with Nippon Chemi-Con capacitors buried underneath a lot of distribution wiring with a handful of solid polymer caps on the 3.3V and 5V DC-to-DC modules.
