The biggest change to the ASUS EAH4890 TOP is not the cooling system, instead it is the power system.  The dual fans and heatpipes are good, it is the Super ML capacitors and the ability to adjust the cards VCore through bundled software.  [H]ard|OCP found themselves amazed at the 960MHz GPU and 4.5GHz GDDR5 final overclock, with no tweaks, tricks or other chicanery, they hit that speed straight out of the box.  Those capacitors certainly made a difference which is good news as the heatpipes and fan did not.  Not bad for a few dollars more.

“Based on the Radeon HD 4890 GPU, the new ASUS EAH4890 TOP has numerous improvements over the reference design, including a new cooling solution and improved power circuitry. We compare it against a reference Radeon HD 4890 and a GeForce GTX 275 in the latest games including Call of Juarez Bound in Blood, Ghostbusters, and Demigod.”
