IOMeter – Average Transaction Time
Normally all SSDs cream the spinning disk VelociRaptor, but the Samsung units rely heavily on write-back caching and do not behave well when that cache is filled completely. The P64 gave up at the end of our second test, while the Summit was able to hang in there a bit longer since it can write out the data at a faster rate, meaning it takes longer for its cache to get overloaded. The drops back to 0 are the result of passing IOMeter’s latency threshold (i.e. it got tired of waiting). For reference, the total duration of all four tests is just under 2 minutes.
