In our 3DMark Vantage tests the new Radeon HD 5850 stays competitive with the GeForce GTX 285 the whole way and actually catches up at the highest settings tested, the Extreme profile.
As expected, with 1440 very powerful shader processors, the HD 5850 comes out ahead in the Complex Pixel shader test, though only by about 8% or so. The Perlin noise and texture filtering performance is through the roof again, just as we saw with the HD 5870 in its first review.
You can see here that CrossFire scales nicely with the 3DMark Vantage gaming tests and with some of the individual tests including the Complex Pixel shader and texture fill rate. For the HD 5870, it seems to have a good edge in pixel processing power by having a nearly 30% lead in the pixel shader performance test.
