Resident Evil 5
Resident Evil 5 (DirectX 10)
The fifth installment of the incredibly popular survival horror game has finally come to the PC and is more impressive looking than ever.
Resident Evil 5 Test Settings
Resident Evil 5 is definitely an impressive game to watch and see even if the gameplay style is a little console-ish. In terms of our GPU performance testing the new Radeon HD 5870 finds itself basically on par with NVIDIA GTX 285 graphics card but well behind the results of the GTX 295. As far as AMD’s generational improvement, the HD 5870 does perform about 45% faster than the HD 4890 at 2560×1600 which is a positive trend.
Right away you can see there is some software issue with CrossFire causing the framerate to dip to an unusual level in a few areas. This is also the game in which CrossFire scaled the least: only 44% or so at the top resolution.
Resident Evil 5 basically didn’t work at all in our AMD Eyefinity testing – the resolution just didn’t scale correctly. We also discuss a few other titles we played with that had issues with Eyefinity in this video:
