Another interesting netbook that got the media’s attention today was the flashy ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1008P Karim Rashid Collection. They had two of these Intel Atom-based devices on the stage in hot pink and brown-gold flavors. For those who don’t know who Mr. Rashid is, we did a little research and found out he has collaborated with clients to create furniture for Artemide and Magis, brand identity for Citibank and Hyundai, high tech products for LaCie and Samsung, and luxury goods for Veuve Clicquot and Swarovski.
The technical specifications on these new Eee PCs include an Intel Atom N450 processor, 1GB DDR2, 250GB hard drive, and a 1024×600 display. It also includes Windows 7 starter and gets up to six hours of battery life with the help from ASUS’s Super Hybrid Engine technology.
This device is only 1″ thick and weighs in at 2.42 lbs and includes 802.11n wireless onboard as well as Bluetooth 2.1. Pricing information was not available at the time we went to press, but we’ll work with ASUS to nail down some MSRPs and product release dates.
