System Setup and Testing ConfigurationThere were a TON of things for us to look at when testing this new Westmere architecture. Even though we knew it was very similar at its core to the Lynnfield processor we needed to double check and make sure performance was a close as we expected. I also wanted to make sure that the movement of the integrated memory controller from the CPU die to an external die didn’t adversely affect performance. Of course you will still see our wide assortment of benchmarks run across the spectrum as well.
We ran tests on both the P55 and H57 chipsets with our new Clarkdale CPU
For testing the new IGP we ran just a couple of gaming benchmarks on it at low resolutions. I then will show you what upgrading to just a $50 discrete card gets in terms of improved gaming experiences.
