Installation and Configuration

Lilliput 7" Mini USB Monitor Review - Displays 25

Installing the UM-70 USB monitor was a straight-forward process on our Windows 7 desktop system. We wanted to test how it would work as a third monitor so we downloaded the latest Windows 7 64-bit drivers from Lilliput and this is the first screen we saw during installation. Installing the software and drivers was extremely easy and we only had to tell it if we wanted the program to automatically check for software updates or not. The installation process itself took less than 5 minutes to complete.

After successfully installing the software and drivers, we went into the control panel under display and screen resolution to activate the USB monitor and make it our third monitor. As if by magic the third monitor was already on our display properties page above and was already configured to run in landscape mode at 800×480. All we had to configure was that we wanted the monitor to be an extension from the second monitor instead of cloning it.

After less than 10 minutes we were able to install and configure the 7″ USB monitor and create a triple monitor desktop setup for our office. The monitor itself didn’t take up any desktop space at all and it will be interesting to see how it handles a variety of PC tasks like gaming, movies, instant messaging, and even Facebook!
