Introduction and Features

Very efficient and virtually silent! If you are looking for a very quiet mid-power PSU with excellent efficiency, good voltage regulation, and modular cables; the MODU87+ 600W deserves a close look.
Introduction

Enermax has a well earned reputation for delivering reliable power supplies, enclosures, and other accessories to the PC enthusiast market.  Enermax recently introduced their new MODU87+ and PRO87+ series power supplies, which currently include three models: 500W, 600W, and 700W with more to follow.  The main difference between the Modu87+ and the Pro87+ PSUs is modular versus fixed cables.  A unique feature that both lines share is what Enermax refers to as Dynamic Hybrid Transformer Topology (DHT).  The focus of DHT is to dynamically change the operating voltage and frequency in the AC side of the PSU to help maximize overall efficiency.  And as you will see later on in this review, the MODU87+ 600W PSU did prove to be very efficient and extremely quiet.

PSU Testing Methodology

Establishing an accurate load is critical to testing and evaluating a PC power supply.  PCPerspective’s power supply test bench can place a precise 2,000 watt DC load on the PSU under test.  Each power supply is tested under controlled, real-world conditions up to its maximum rated load, using both 115 VAC and 240 VAC line voltage.  Our current suite of tests includes:

•    DC Load Regulation
•    DC Line Regulation
•    DC Cross-load (unbalanced load)
•    AC Ripple and Noise
•    Power Factor
•    Efficiency
•    Differential Temperature
•    Noise
