Batman: Arkham Asylum (DirectX 10)

One of the best received gaming titles on both console and PC for 2009, Batman: Arkham Asylum is an impressive game both visually and in terms of design.

One interesting note: Batman (personally) doesn’t allow setting AA levels in-game for AMD graphics card but DOES for NVIDIA GPUs.  We instead enabled AA in the AMD Catalyst Control Panel where noted.

In our first test comparing the new GeForce GTX 480 to the HD 5970 and the HD 5870, the new NVIDIA offering comes out looking pretty good.  At 19×12 the GTX 480 is nearly on par with the HD 5970 and is 26% faster than the HD 5870 single GPU card.  That difference actually grows when we look at the 2560×1600 results as NVIDIA’s lead stretches to 40%.

For the new GTX 470, it just about matches the performance of the Radeon HD 5870 until we hit the 25×16 resolution where it takes a stronger 12% lead.  Also interestingly, the GTX 285 and the GTX 470 are running nearly neck and neck.
