Audio and Sound Quality
Audio on the Asus G51J-3D is pretty much what we heard on the Asus G51J not long ago. While they were substantially better than speakers on little notebooks and netbooks, the speakers were still fairly harsh to listen to especially when turned up slightly. The maximum volume on the G51J-3D is fairly low as well, which may make listening to in noisy environments a bit troublesome.

While listening to music isn’t all that spectacular on the G51J-3D, movies offer a slightly better experience as long as the movie does not have a sustained soundtrack like in the movie Juno. Exploding cars and gun fire can sound a bit clipped and harsh.

For games, the speakers do a good job at delivering the action, where the harsh high-frequency can sometimes add to the feel of shell casings falling to the ground. Games with intense sound tracks should be disabled as the layered sound effects from a game combined with an ongoing music track gets muddy pretty quick.

The included Creative Labs software can help improve the sound quality somewhat, but it isn’t a miracle worker. You can use the equalizer to balance out the treble to something more reasonable, but upping the bass just makes things sound worse.
