Battery life on the Asus G51J-3D is actually a bit better than the G51J we reviewed not long ago with an 18 to 28% better battery life. This variation likely comes from the difference in displays, with less pixels to power, the G51J-3D is able to get a bit more batter life than the higher resolution sibling. While this sounds like a significant percentage, the battery still depletes in under an hour and a half, which makes long computing sessions difficult. It’s clear that the battery is just to help get you from place to place.

While it’s tempting to dismiss the G51J-3D as not being good enough in the battery department, keep in mind that this is a gaming system and shorter battery life is the price paid for a faster CPU and good discrete graphics.
