Video and Display Quality
I admit, going into this I review I wasn’t much more from the display than I had already experienced with the G51J non-3D, but I was wrong. Even though the display panel on the G51J-3D isn’t full HD, the 120 Hz refresh makes a perceivable difference right from the start in Windows 7.
With a higher refresh, mouse movements appear smoother, and even window dragging is a bit more graceful. In games, with vsync enabled at 120Hz, action is silky smooth without any screen tearing. I didn’t think 120Hz was going to be perceivable, but now I can see that the improvement is subtle yet meaningful for those of you who appreciate the little things.
In games, the 120Hz refresh is really noticeable when combined with vsync. This allows a higher frame rate before any noticeable tearing and the results are smoooOOooth. Precise aiming feels more fluid in shooters and commanding an RTS game feels more natural.
The colour of the display is quite excellent. The saturation is good without being artificial, and the contrast is excellent in even bright environments. Movies and images look good on the 1366×768 display with nice blacks and colour reproduction.
The viewing angles from the left and right are fairly good up to about 30 degrees on either side. Viewing from below causes darks to brighten, and viewing from above has the image all washed out.
3D rendering is the 3D
3D rendering is the 3D computer graphics process of manually converting 3D wire frame models into 2D images with 3D photorealistic special effects on a computer.
