The Asus’ Eee PC 1201T ultraportable has two things going for it that will keep the price down and the interest of enthusiasts up.  The Athlon Neo MV-40 @ 1.60GHz is less expensive than similar Intel products and it does not come with an OS, meaning you can grab it from NewEgg for under $400.  The enthusiast is going to like that the 12.1″ screen is powered by an HD3200 Radeon which beats the Intel equivalent hands down.

You can see the laptop in action, running Ubuntu 10.04, over at The Tech Report.

“This latest Eee PC defies convention, with AMD guts and no operating system in the box. Is it the perfect ultraportable for Linux geeks, or does it fall short?”
