Plenty of choices for an 890FX board
Three prime examples of motherboards using AMD’s new chipset are, from most to lest expensive, the Asus Crosshair IV Formula, the Gigabyte 890FXA-UD7 and the MSI 890FXA-GD70. All three are up for review at The Tech Report and while they are similar there are definite differences. Only the USB 3.0 controller remains the same across all three boards, the NEC D720200F1 is certainly the best current choice of the few available controllers. Apart from that there is a mix of audio controllers, SATA controllers and even slot counts between the three boards. The testing revealed characteristics unique to each board and the ASUS came out on top as far as overclocking potential but each has its own charm. Choose your favourite out of the three in the full review.
