NEC will be releasing their LifeTouch tablet in Japan this October. The unit will be running Android 2.1, supports 800×480 resolution, and weighs just 400 grams. Under the hood will be an ARM Cortex A8 processor (no word on the speed), 256MB RAM, SD slot, a full and mini USB port, 801.11b/g WiFi, GPS, 3MP camera, and up to 8 hours of battery life.

At about 8.5″ x 4.5″, it’s fairly portable and functional, but the styling can use some improvement (computer nerds deserve pretty things too!).

No word on pricing or if this product will also make a debut in North America. Seems like a lot of slate PCs are hitting the street this October, are you ready for the onslaught?
