Battery Life and Final Thoughts
Battery Life

One area that I have not been impressed with in all of the Android phones I have tested so far is battery life. With phones like the Droid Incredible, I struggled to get a full days use out of the battery with stock settings. However, the Droid X stuck with me all day without much compromise.

However, one area that causes concern are the default widgets loaded with the NinjaBlur install. If you leave all of these widgets running on different pages, then your battery life will be adversely effects. Running all of those simulatneous updates in the background seem to drain the battery by a pretty extreme amount.

Conclusion

All in all, the Droid X is a great Android phone, and a great Smartphone in general. While the excitement of a device like this may be lessened because of all of the recent phone launches, it is still a solid example of a good phone. While everyone may not enjoy the large form factor, it is still good that consumers have the choice of buying a phone like this. This shows the strong foundation that an open source operating system can lay down and allow manufactures like Motorola or HTC to create great handsets. This good handset will only get more interesting in the future with software updates to Froyo, and beyond. Stay tuned to PC Perspective for more updates on Android phones in the future.

The Droid X is currently available from Verizon Wireless for a price of $199.99 (2 Year Contract required) or a Non-Commitment price of $569.99.
