Antec Designer Notebook Cooler
The Antec Designer is more a traditional cooler design most of you will be familiar with. Your notebook rests on top, and a 120mm blower fan inside pushes air up onto the system’s base by drawing air from the back. Thanks to it’s wide deck, the Designer is big enough to accommodate larger notebooks up to 17″. Like the Mini, the effectiveness of the Designer will be determined by the location of your system’s exhaust vent and if your notebook’s base has perforations for airflow.

The bottom of the Designer – the USB cable can be routed a variety of ways.
If your system blows hot air out the back, then the Designer will just take the same hot air and blow it right back in. Not an ideal situation.
Even if your system doesn’t have it’s exhaust located on the back, if your base does not have holes for ventilation, then the Designer is just cooling the body of the notebook which may not be very effective in keeping your internals at a lower operating temperature.

As far as aesthetics go, beauty is in the eye of the beholder – the silver plastic and curved lines tries to hide the fact that the cooler is in fact fair big and bulky. The Antec Designer is not meant to be portable. You could use the Designer on your lap, but it is a bit cumbersome.

The product packaging for the Antec Cooler Designer directly contradicts your statement regarding the airflow direction.
So which is it? In through the top & out the back, or vice versa?
