One of the MODU87+ PSU’s more unique features is what Enermax refers to as Dynamic Hybrid Transformer Topology (DHT). The focus of DHT is to dynamically change the operating voltage and frequency in the AC side of the PSU to help maximize overall efficiency.
Under the Hood
Here are a few pictures showing the layout and components inside the Enermax MODU87+ 900W power supply. The overall build quality appears to be very good as we have come to expect from Enermax.
The two main capacitors on the primary are made by Rubycon and rated at 330uF, 450V, and 85°C. The main bridge rectifier is located to the right of the large choke coil on the small black heatsink.
The Enermax MODU87+ 900W PSU uses DC to DC converters to produce the +3.3V and +5V outputs from +12V. Each DC to DC converter resides on its own daughter card and incorporates solid polymer caps. Also noteworthy are the small daughter cards that mount both solid polymer and traditional electrolytic capacitors to help optimize airflow and cooling.
