A Detailed Look

The PC Power & Cooling Silencer Mk II 950W PSU features a standard, scratch-resistant PC Power & Cooling black matte paint job. The enclosure measures 6.3″ long (160mm) so it should fit in most cases without any issues. The back panel contains a power receptacle and On-Off switch. All the Silencer Mk II power supplies incorporate universal AC input (automatically adjusts to the AC line voltage) and Active PFC.

As we mentioned earlier, one of the most notable changes in this power supply is the use of a top mounted fan instead of the traditional rear-mounted 80mm fan that PC Power & Cooling has for years been promoting. The 135mm cooling fan is made by Globe Fan (RL4ZB1352512HH). This high speed model features dual ball bearings and is rated for up to 0.45A at 12V. To help keep things quiet, the fan speed is automatically controlled by the internal component temperature (speeds up as the combined load and temperature increases).

The Silencer Mk II 950W power supply has a full complement of cables and connectors. All of the cables are hard-wired into the PSU chassis, which eliminates potential problems caused by the added resistance of modular cable connectors. The wiring harnesses measure from 22” to 24” long to the first connector and are covered with black plastic mesh sleeving.

The Silencer Mk II 950W power supply comes fitted with three 6-pin PCI-E connectors and three 8-pin PCI-E connectors (6-pin/2-pin split) to support up to three of the latest high-end video cards.
