Lost Planet 2
Lost Planet 2 (DirectX 11)
The gigantic Akrid, epic environments, and heavily-armoured vital suits of Lost Planet 2 come to PCs beginning October 15! LP2 will be coming to your favorite digital distribution portal soon as well.
Featuring support for DirectX® 11 and DirectX 9, Lost Planet 2 delivers its Akrid-infested world in even greater detail. Through DirectX® 11 features, smoke will have lifelike volume and depth, water surfaces react realistically to player interaction and bullets, and level bosses are rendered with more detail than ever before.
The primary purpose of Test B is to push the PC to its limits and to evaluate the maximum performance of the PC. It utilizes many functions of Direct X11 resulting in a very performance-orientated, very demanding benchmark mode.
Lost Planet 2 Test Settings
The HD 6870 has a similar showing in Lost Planet 2 as it does in Metro 2033; beating the HD 5850 pretty easily and matching the reference GTX 460 but falling behind the overclocked model.
The Radeon HD 6850 has a tougher time standing out in this benchmark against even the GTX 460 768MB card.

Today’s cards are about
Today’s cards are about offering gamers more bang for the money and more performance per watt, and the prices of both 6870 and 6850 well within reach for most.
On top of that, the enhancements on both 6870 and 6850 have improved anisotropic filtering algorithm and also looked into issues which caused some visual anomalies in the past generation.
Interesting comparison.
Interesting comparison. Though it is quite obvious there is an improvement of performance for the new cards, it may not be the best time to upgrade. With the way technology is advancing, we can expect better models to come out annually. Save the money to purchase an even more powerful model next year. That is if your current rig is powerful enough to handle today;s graphics.
