Depending on how well you are at finding bargains, a pair of 1GB GTX460’s can run you less than $350 while a GTX580 will cost over $500.  You might think with that price differential that there would be a significant difference in performance, but you would be wrong.  [H]ard|OCP just finished testing the performance and found practical parity, apart from some frame rate spikes in CivV and a lowered MSAA setting in F1 2010.  Apart from that, it is hard to justify buying the GTX580.
