Power Consumption and Temperatures
The power consumption of the new GTX 570 is only slightly lower than the GTX 580 which makes some sense; the reason the GTX 570 exists is to sell a GPU with some small defects or to sell a GPU with fewer shaders that doesn’t otherwise meet thermal limits. The Radeon HD 5870 2GB card uses significantly less power but at the cost of gaming performance as well.
The load power consumption of the GTX 570 is a few degrees lower than the GTX 580 and a notable 7 degrees lower than the GTX 480 it is replacing.
I’m surprised by the heat
I’m surprised by the heat consumption. I wonder how that would be effected through virtualization. You can run it through this Power Consumption Calculator
