Retail packaging and included extras
Apple doesn’t stray from its marketing and branding strategies with any of its products, and the retail packaging for our MacBook Pro is no exception. Apple included a large studio photo of the MacBook to shows its style and sleekness. They didn’t clutter the retail packaging with any additional case badges or other marketing fluff that you will see from other vendors.
The back panel of the retail packaging includes a gorgeous studio photo of the 13.3″ display and the OSX 10.6.6 desktop. While many people aren’t going to be looking at Apple’s packaging to help determine if they want to buy their products (mainly because people can get a hands-on look at all their products via retail Apple stores), they still did an excellent job of creating a modern and innovative packaging that will attract consumers to their brand.
As I opened the retail packaging, I got my first look at the MacBook Pro and was a bit in awe of how well it was packaged and secured during shipping. The “Designed by Apple in California” was a nice touch and made me feel I was getting something luxurious and exclusive at the same time.
After removing the MacBook Pro, the bottom portion revealed a 60W MagSafe power adapter, AC wall plug, power cord, driver/recovery DVDs, and a user manual.
Here’s a close-up shot of the 60-watt MagSafe power adapter and power cord. This setup is pretty standard so we’ll move on.
Here’s another shot of what I saw when I opened the packaging that contained the driver DVDs and user manual. It seems Apple thinks of everything “differently” all the way down to walking users through the included documentation.
Apple also through in a simple screen cloth to wipe off any fingerprints from the display or exterior casing on the MacBook Pro.
Lastly, here are the Macbook Pro OSX recovery and driver DVDs, software license agreement/warranty agreement card, user manual, and two Apple stickers.
