Results: AvP, DiRT 2, and Fallout 3
AvPThis particular benchmark and title has been out for some time now, but is one of the few with actual in-game tessellation that is pretty even-handed in regards to vendor specific implementations. All top settings were used with 4X AA and 16X AF.

Unlike when this benchmark was originally released, NVIDIA has caught up to AMD in performance. The GTX 480 has a very small lead over the HD 6950, but both are quite a bit faster than the older HD 5870.
DiRT 2
I still love playing this game, and having a good FF wheel is key to the enjoyment. Plus the graphics still look really, really good. Ultra preset is used with 4X AA and 16X AF.

This was another application which originally ran better on AMD cards, but NVIDIA has certainly caught up. Once the highest resolution is used though, all three products are within a couple FPS of each other. The only area where AMD has a lead is in minimum FPS at that highest resolution.
Fallout 3
Ok, long in the tooth already. But it still is the base engine for the latest “New Vegas” title that was released not too terribly long ago. Ultra presets were used with 4X AA and 16X AF.

That is pretty boring. All cards are maxing out this particular application. Pretty much anything over a GTX 460 or HD 6850 will mimic these results.
