Power Consumption and Temperatures
Based on the Barts architecture, I was curious to see if this partially disabled 1.7 billion transistor GPU would be able to pull in very efficient performance / watt results.

While it does pull even with the GTX 550 Ti in terms of total power consumption (which indicates a much better performance / watt since the GTX 550 Ti was consistently slower), the Radeon HD 5770 still uses the least power (but produces the slowest results).  The GTX 460 768MB card (that is nearly the same performance as the HD 6790) pulls 13% more power than the HD 6790 based rig indicating again, better perf / watt with AMD’s designs.

Unfortunately, our software was unable to read the temperature of the Radeon HD 6790 GPU until an upcoming update and, regardless, because reference-based designs are unlikely to see retail release, any numbers we would have gotten would be less useful.
