A Detailed Look – at the Outside

As a hardware reviewer, I can honestly say there have only been a handful of times in my career where I was literally speechless at the originality and creativity of a hardware component – especially when it comes to PC enclosures. The Level 10 GT left me in awe from the moment I removed it from its retail packaging. The unique style of the front panel combined with the modular look of the side and top panels made me feel like I was looking at a piece of industrial artwork rather than a functional PC case.

The front panel of the Level 10 GT has room for four 5.25″ optical drives, one 3.5″ bay, and a small security lock that secures the five 3.5″ hot-swappable, removable hard drive bays located on the left side of the case. The minimalistic design gives this case a unique look and feel that is somewhat difficult to describe because it has multiple design elements that creates a three-dimensional presence that really draws in those who appreciate PC cases with class and style.

The front panel also sports four USB 2.0 ports, power/reset button, and audio/mic jacks. The power button includes a bright blue LED, while the hard drive activity LED is red. On a side note, I really like how Thermaltake paid attention to some of the smaller details like labeling and organizing all the front I/O ports, which sometimes doesn’t happen with other PC cases.

Thermaltake included one 3.5″ bay for those users who want to add an additional fan controller or other multi-function device to enhance the capabilities of their PC.

Here’s a quick look at the left side panel and three things stand out right away like the removable hard drive bays, 200mm fan, and the small plexiglass window. As I look closer at the panel, I noticed another small security lock that actually secures the side panel door that swings open for easy access to the interior of the case. Lastly, I noticed a small rubber hole at the top right of the photo where the headset hanger will be installed.

Here’s a close-up shot of the security lock that secures the side panel door. You can also see the a small lever that will change the direction of the airflow coming from the side panel’s 200mm fan. This is a very creative and unique feature that we will discuss further when we evaluate the internal features of the case.

One of the most exciting features of this case is the inclusion of five 3.5″ hot-swappable hard drive bays that support both 2.5″ and 3.5″ devices. At the push of a button, the hard drive cages pop out and installation includes four screws instead of basic plastic clips. I prefer securing my hard drives with screws, but there is a case to be made for quick release, plastic hard drive cages that are simple to install and use.

The side panel’s 200mm fan also includes a large air filter that can is reusable and washable. Our readers will also notice a small arrow at the bottom of the photo above. This arrow outlines where the button is to open the hinged side panel door (after you unlock the security lock).

The back panel is pretty standard, but does include support for external water cooling solutions and a design that mounts the power supply at the bottom of the case.

The left panel usually is pretty bare with most PC cases, but the Level 10 GT includes a small beveled design with a nice Level 10 GT logo at the bottom right of the case. This side also includes a large and sturdy case handle that makes it a bit easier to transport this case to gaming events.

Lastly, here’s a shot of the top panel that includes another large 200mm fan that has tri-color LED lights. Thermaltake also added two USB 3.0 ports, one eSATA port, and a fan controller for the case’s lights and RPM speeds.
