HD Tach 3.0 Hard Drive

Using another tool, we hope to plumb the depths of the different SATA 6G solutions before us today.  While they are all based on the same SB950/SB850 chip, there are distinct differences in BIOS implementations and timings from the different manufacturers.

While average throughput was even for all controllers, we see a few differences in burst speed and CPU utilization.  The two new 990FX boards are neck and neck, which is not surprising since they are both using the latest firmware from AMD for its southbridge.

HD Tach 2.0 and 3.0 USB

I tested both USB 2.0 and 3.0 performance to make sure that we are again in line.

And the 3.0 results.

Not a huge difference under USB 2.0 between the different implementations.  In USB 3.0 tests we see the ASMedia unit come out just slightly ahead.
