Render Tests

CineBench 10

This rendering benchmark based off of the Cinema 4D engine is a terrific indicator for multi-threaded processing.

AMD A8-3850 Llano Desktop Processor Review - Can AMD compete with Sandy Bridge? - Graphics Cards 17

Single threaded performance…ouch – slowest result on the graph.  When you consider we are looking at a Phenom core running at a pretty bland 2.9 GHz it all makes sense, but that doesn’t make it any better.  The multi-threaded performance does much better though as it is able to outperform the Core i3-2100 and the Core i5-655; but that is it.  Do you have a Core 2 Quad 9650?  If so then you are already outpacing what Llano can offer you.

POV-Ray 3.7 Beta

POV-Ray has long been the poster child for multi-threaded processing and rendering.

POV-Ray actually gives us a better outlook than CineBench 10 does as it beats out the Core i3-2100 (which IS its primary competition) by a wider margin.

Blender

Blender is a free open source 3D engine that is a popular choice amongst college students and small developers.

Single and dual-threaded results on Blender again give the Llano the worst showing on our board here though the quad-thread option improves things just a bit.  As I think we will see over and over, the true quad-cores of the A8-3850 beats out the dual-core i3-2100 with HyperThreading.
