“PCI Express 3.0
“PCI Express 3.0 capabilities*”
Why the asterik? Is it saying I have to wait for Ivy Bridge for PCI Express 3.0 capabilities? And if so, does that mean that the Ivy Bridge CPUs will even fit the socket on the motherboard and support the X79 chipset?
We still don’t have PCIe 3.0
We still don’t have PCIe 3.0 devices.
Specifically from ASUS
“*This motherboard is ready to support PCIe 3.0 SPEC. Functions will be available when using PCIe 3.0-compliant devices. Please refer to http://www.asus.com for updated details.”
As to the other question, Ivy Bridge will be LGA1155 and is expected to be backwards compatible with existing SandyBridge boards.
