The Call of Duty franchise has always sold well, especially on the consoles. The Modern Warfare series specifically has managed to pull off some impressive sales numbers. The previous release, Call of Duty: Black Ops managed to make $350 at launch, and the series’ latest first person shooter has made a record 400 million dollars in the first 24 hours of its release.
It seems that despite the lackluster graphics, the issue of the Call of Duty Elite service, and being more of the same game, Call of Duty is still something that gamers are willing to play and shell out top price for. According to Giant Bomb, the latest Modern Warfare game has more explosions than a Michael Bay movie and the gun-play is still sharp, so there are some positives to be had. Those positives make the game desirable for a lot of people with Activision selling 6.5 million copies at launch!

Once I started learning about computer hardware, and game engines, and code. I realized that every CoD after CoD4 could have been an add-on, and it seems that is still the case, I’m not missing anything there. I’m not down with paying 60$ for what could have been a DLC…
I almost forgot about the hackers/cheaters, dont miss them at all
I’ve only played MW3 for
I’ve only played MW3 for about 15 or 20 hours total and that includes the single player. I think I’m at a level 40 or so before moving to prestige etc. And I’m liking the game. I’ve played all the COD games in multi and SP since COD1–at least all the PC versions–not every console but some of them on PS too. I’m a pretty big fan of the series in general and think MW3 is another good game. Is it better than some of the earlier versions? I don’t know, but its different to me. Especially in the large variety of weapons and the way one “levels up” to earn perks weapon by weapon. That’s different. One can’t simply “purchase” better rifle sights etc–one has to earn them by experience using that specific weapon. It’s more challenging. I think. I agree on the PC it seems to my eyes that the graphics don’t “seem” quite as good as earlier games..Is that just me? But they’re plenty acceptable. I much prefer MW3’s lobby where players can vote for which map to play next and also no dedicated servers means no more 24/7 Nuketown servers that totally dominated my low ping choices here on the West Coast USA. I like to play all the maps. Whether I like them or not. Someone else might like them. And another thing I like about “no dedicated” servers is that no rules about restricted weapons or words etc..Too many admin game restrictions on dedicated servers. Much prefer this new lobby that is more like the console community-
