Metro 2033

Metro 2033 (DirectX 11)

Metro 2033 is one of the best looking PC games in years.  By utilizing some advanced DX11 features as well as impressively high-quality shading routines this title pushes our graphics in way we have seen since the first days of Crysis.

We ran Metro 2033 with Advance DOF disabled because it continues to bring cards to their knees.

Metro 2033 is aging but still one of the most demanding games for a new GPU, so its static placement in our test suite is warranted.  The Radeon HD 7970 3GB is able to win out over the GTX 580 1.5GB card by 27% at 1920×1080 and 34% at 2560×1600 while getting just slightly higher minimums.  Since the GTX 580 and the Radeon HD 6970 run so similarly, the gaps between it and the HD 7970 are basically identical.  The GTX 560 Ti 2Win from EVGA makes a great showing at 1920×1080 but falls apart completely at 2560×1600, just as we saw in our Battlefield 3 results.
