ASUS remains one of the best manufacturers in the netbook category. Today, they’ve pulled the wraps off some new products that will freshen their lineup for 2012.

First up we have the Eee PC Flare 1025C/CE, a pair of 10.1” netbooks. Despite the new “flare” name, these are straight successors of the existing 10.1” Eee PC lineup. They have similar design and a 1024×600 display but offer updated hardware.

The 1025C comes with an Intel Atom N2600 dual-core clocked at 1.6 GHz, while the 1025CE comes with an Intel Atom N2800 dual-core clocked at 1.86 GHz. Both models include Intel integrated graphics (now supporting DirectX 10), a gigabyte of RAM and 6-cell batteries. The 1025CE adds a single USB 3.0, as well. Weight is 2.7 pounds and thickness is 1.3 inches for both. Pricing starts at $299 for the 1025C and $319 for the 1025CE.

Next up is the Eee PC 1225B, a successor to the current 1215B featuring AMD’s Fusion APU. The latest E-450 dual-core is now included, as is 2GB of RAM and not one but two USB 3.0 ports. Like the outgoing model, the 1225B has a 12.1” display with a resolution 1366×768. Weight is 3.1 pounds and thickness is a maximum of 1.4 inches, though most of the chassis will be less. Pricing starts at a surprisingly affordable $399.

Finally we come to the Eee PC X101CH, which is a super-thin netbook variant offering the same 1.6 GHz Atom dual-core as the Eee PC 1025C, one gigabyte of RAM and a 10.1” display with the typical 1024×600 resolution. The X101CH is thinner and lighter, however, at just .86 inches thick and 2.3 pounds. This is possible thanks to a small 3-cell battery, which will of course reduce life. Pricing of this Eee PC starts at only $269.

Updates to the netbook line are not as exciting as some other products, but necessary. The 1225B deserves particular notice, since it is an improvement upon an already excellent laptop that is a bit of a giant killer. For just $399, you can have over six hours of battery life, decent 3D graphics performance in an extremely
